In this report, buckling of annular plates under tensile loading at the inner edge is treated for a wide range of the ratio between inner and outer radius. For ratios approaching 1.0, plate buckling turns into buckling of circular beams. Di erent boundary conditions are investigated, and a dimensionless buckling factor is determined and presented in graphical form by diagrams, which allow a quick determination of the critical load intensities in dependence of the geometric parameters as well as the material's Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio. Not only the critical load intensity but also the development of buckling wave numbers depends strongly on the radius ratio. Most interesting is the variation of the buckling mode during the transition from plate to beam buckling, especially for the completely free plate, where 2d and 3d beam buckling must be considered as possible candidates for mode transitions. All kinds of buckling are investigated under both directional and follower loads.
