The purpose of this task is to explore optimization strategies for oil and water separation plants based on the digital twinning and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling approaches, established in previous works. To analyze the effects of the overall plant (macro-scale simulation), the process simulation model (Digital Twin) is used, which is capable of simulating dynamic effects in the individual plant components with an acceptable computational effort. First, sensitivity analyses were carried out using the digital twin, which consider dynamic effects during the separation of water and oil. Based on the results of this analysis, statements can be made on the optimization of the overall system.
