The renewable energy climate in Turkey has seen revolutionary changes in the past few years due to increasing energy demands. Because of these pressing energy needs, which have a direct effect on the growth of the economy, Turkey has set certain energy production goals for itself till 2020. Wishing to tap domestic sources rather than remain always at the hands of its oil rich neighbors, the Turkish renewable energy market has developed at warp speed over the past five years. The core question of this work will be to the potentials that renewables in Turkey have toward meeting electricity production goals by the 2020 date. By analyzing wind, solar and geothermal resources' energetic contributions, economic considerations and environmental impacts, the study will outline the present the situation in Turkey and make projections about the likelihood of it meeting the 2020 goals. The intended method is a review of available literature as well as statistics data to answer the question.
