Im heutigen Geschäftsleben ist das Thema Outsourcing mittlerweile zu einem nicht mehr weg zu denkenden Bestandteil geworden. Unternehmen sind einem immer stärker werdenden Wettbewerb ausgesetzt und sind gezwungen, ihre Kosten bzw. die Abläufe im Unternehmen zu optimieren. Da Siemens im IT-Outsourcing-Markt bereits seit einiger Zeit sehr erfolgreich tätig ist, ist es nun eine logische Schlussfolgerung, weitere Themen im Outsourcing anzubieten. Siemens SIS SDE - eine Software-Entwicklungs-Abteilung der Siemens - möchte nun genau diesen Schritt für R&D-Leistungen wagen. Anhand der vorliegenden Arbeit soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, in wie weit das Outsourcing-Geschäft für R&D-Produkte und Lösungen sinnvoll bzw. wirtschaftlich vorteilhaft ist. Dabei werden Trends im Outsourcing und deren Auswirkungen, der Markt und die Möglichkeiten des Unternehmens behandelt und schließlich mit Hilfe der 5-Forces-Analyse von Michael E. Porter eine Empfehlung erarbeitet.
