The theoretical study of the quark gluon plasma gains increasinginterest as particle accelerators like the SPS, RHIC, or the currentlybuilt LHC will reach sufficiently high energy densities in heavy ioncollisions that allow us to probe this new state of matterexperimentally. Straightforward application of quantum field theory athigh temperatures fails in a perturbative expansion in the couplingconstant, and despite some effort during the last decades to improve thesituation, so far quantitative theoretical knowledge about the phasetransition merely comes from lattice simulations. Lattice simulations onthe other hand fail for a deconfined quark-gluon plasma at large quarkchemical potential and small temperatures which is expected to be foundin the core of dense stars. Large N_{f} QCD - that is quantumchromodynamics with large number of quark flavors - allows one tocalculate thermodynamic properties like the interaction contribution ofthermal pressure or entropy exactly in the effective coupling \geff^{2}\propto g^{2}N_{f} for all temperatures T and chemical potentials\mu _{q}. This makes large N_{f} QCD an ideal testing ground for variousapproximation methods. In this work we present the exact large N_{f} NLO calculation of thethermal interaction pressure in the whole T-\mu _{q}-plane where thepresence of the Landau pole is negligible numerically. For small valuesof the coupling we compare our results to existing perturbative resultsin the literature, in particular the recent calculation by Vuorinen forfinite temperature and chemical potential or an older calculation byFreedman and McLerran for zero temperature and high chemical potential. Our numerical accuracy allows us to verify and even improve some of theexisting perturbative coefficients, and to predict new coefficients tothe sixth order in the coupling numerically that have not beencalculated analytically yet. For larger couplings we determine whereperturbation theory ceases to be applicable. At zero chemical potentialwe calculate linear and non-linear quark number susceptibilities. Weshow that the moderate scaling behavior suggested by the quark numbersusceptibilities breaks down rather abruptly at \mu _{q}\gtrsim \pi T,but that this non-perturbative effect in \mu _{q} can still bereproduced well by the calculation by Vuorinen for small couplings andfinite T. Only for T\ll \mu _{q} also this approach breaks down and weenter the range of a so-called non-Fermi liquid, which in contrast to aclassical Fermi liquid is dominated by long-range quasi-statictransverse gauge-boson interactions. In this limit, we complete thepreviously known leading T\ln T^{-1} contribution to the specific heat, and also to go beyond this order to find a series involving anomalousfractional powers T^{(3+2n)/3} caused by dynamical screening. Wecalculate their coefficients analytically up to order T^{7/3} and findthat these contributions indeed determine the leading anomalouscontribution in full QED and QCD (i.e. at finite N_{f}).
