Thermische Sanierungen von Gebäuden bestehen in Österreich vorwiegend in der Verbesserung der U-Werte der Bauteile. Das Ziel ist ein verminderter Heizwärmebedarf im Winter. Die Auswirkungen der thermischen Sanierungen auf das Sommerverhalten der Gebäude sind hingegen nur unzureichend bekannt und werden nur vereinfacht berücksichtigt.<br />In dieser Arbeit wurde versucht, die Veränderungen des thermischen Sommerverhaltens durch eine heute übliche thermische Sanierung abzuschätzen. Dazu wurde ein typischer 60er bis 80er Jahre Großwohnbau in Wien (Floridsdorf) herangezogen. Im ersten Schritt wurde durch die Variation von Bauweise, Orientierung, Oberflächenfarbe, Lage der Räume im Gebäude, Fenstergröße, Zimmergröße, Sonnenschutz und Luftwechsel das Sommerverhalten des bestehenden Gebäudes untersucht. Zur Berechnung der Bestandvarianten wurden beide Nachweise laut Ö-Norm B8110-3 herangezogen. Dabei stellte sich heraus, dass das vereinfachte Verfahren (Nachweis über die mindesterforderliche speicherwirksame Masse) die berechneten Räume, im Vergleich zum Nachweis über den Tagesverlauf der Raumtemperatur, zu positiv bewertet. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit wurden die Veränderungen des thermischen Verhaltens von Räumen nach einer Sanierung untersucht. Durch die große Zahl der Varianten (Bestand 5184, Sanierung 5730) erfolgte die Auswertung über Mittelwerte, Häufigkeiten in bestimmten Temperaturbereichen und Extremwerte, jeweils für den Tag und für die Nacht. Zur besseren Vergleichbarkeit der Varianten wurden diese in Eigenschaftsgruppen eingeteilt und die einzelnen Eigenschaften miteinander verglichen. Es ist zu beachten, dass die Ergebnisse berechnete Werte darstellen und die Reaktionen des Menschen auf ein unbehagliches Raumklima nicht vollständig berücksichtigt werden können (z.B. spontanes Öffnen der Fenster am Tag oder dem Kauf eines Klimagerätes bei zu hohen Raumtemperaturen).<br />Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass es keine einzelnen Eigenschaften gibt, welche ein angenehmes Raumklima im Sommer garantieren können. Es ist immer eine Kombination von Maßnahmen für die Sommertauglichkeit eines Raumes nötig. Alle untersuchten Kombinationen mit kleinen Fenstern, einem außenliegendem Sonnenschutz, heller Fassadenfarbe und erhöhter Nachtlüftung sind sommertauglich. Im Gegensatz dazu sind Kombinationen von großen Fenstern, ohne Verschattung oder großen Räumen mit großen Fenstern nicht sommertauglich.<br />Das entscheidende Kriterium sowohl bei der Sommertauglichkeit von Räumen als auch bei den Auswirkungen auf die Raumtemperatur der Räume ist die Möglichkeit einen Raum in der Nacht ausreichend zu lüften. Varianten ohne erhöhte nächtliche Lüftung sind nicht sommertauglich und es ist von einem zum Teil erheblichen Temperaturanstieg nach der Sanierung auszugehen.<br />Im Durchschnitt ist bei den untersuchten Varianten nach der Sanierung von einem Temperaturanstieg (Mittelwert +0,7°K) auszugehen, der jedoch durch die Kombination mit außenliegenden Verschattungseinrichtungen, erhöhter nächtlicher Lüftungsmöglichkeiten und heller Fassadenfarbe auf unter 1°K beschränkt werden kann. Dies gilt unabhängig von der Orientierung des Raumes. Zwar neigen Ost- und Westfassaden häufiger und stärker zu Temperaturanstiegen nach der Sanierung, aber auch die Orientierung nach Norden verlangt zusätzliche Maßnahmen wie außenliegenden Sonnenschutz und erhöhte nächtliche Lüftung.<br />Bei thermisch problematischen Räumen ist nach der Sanierung von einer weiteren Verschlechterung der thermischen Situation im Sommer auszugehen, wenn keine geeigneten Maßnahmen getroffen werden.<br />
