- Der Tourist zerstört, was er sucht, indem er es findet. - Anknüpfend an diesen Gedanken werden in dieser Diplomarbeit die Folgen des ständig ansteigenden Fremdenverkehrs und die Konsequenzen der unkontrollierten Bautätigkeit auf der Insel Krk in Kroatien betrachtet. Die vordergründige Intention ist die Suche nach zukünftigen touristischen Konzepten für die gesamte Insel, basierend auf systematischen Ortsanalysen und städtebaulichen Szenarien. Diese werden am Beispiel des Ortes BaSka genauer ausgearbeitet. Durch eine bewusste Reaktivierung der reichhaltigen Kultur und langen Tradition soll die Tourismussaison, welche eine wichtige Lebensgrundlage für die dortige Bevölkerung bildet, eine ganzjährige Ausdehnung erfahren. Der Entwurf konzentriert sich, neben infrastrukturellen Neuerungen sowie kulturellen oder gemeinschaftlichen Nutzungen, schwerpunktmäßig auf die Entwicklung von zeitgenössischen Wohnmodellen für die Einheimischen.<br />Diese sollen durch eine konsequente Nachverdichtung innerhalb des Ortskernes sowie eine Neuinterpretation von traditionellen architektonischen Elementen mit der bestehenden einzigartigen urbanen Struktur in Einklang stehen.<br />

The master thesis KRK + analyses the increasing impact of tourism and the consequences of uncontrolled construction activity on the island of Krk in Croatia. The paper deals with the influence of these developments on the island's population and the traditional architecture. The intention of this work is the search for future urbanistic and sociological concepts for the entire island, based on spatial analyses.<br />The main aim is the expansion of the tourist season through a conscious reactivation of the rich island culture and its long history. In addition to infrastructural improvements with cultural and public uses, the design focuses on the development of contemporary housing models for the local inhabitants of BaSka, the major tourist village on the island. The dense composition is based on a new interpretation of traditional architectural elements. So it also harmonizes with the existing urban structure of the village center. Moreover, the concept regards environmental and sustainable aspects.<br />
