Game-Communities, also Gruppenbildung von Computer- oder Videospielern, wird im Zuge der immer größer werdenden Anzahl an Onlinespielen immer wichtiger. Spielentwickler sind gezwungen immer mehr Zeit in die Förderung und Entwicklung einer Game-Community für das jeweilige Spiel zu stecken. Um eine Game-Community zu fördern sollten allerdings einige Aspekte und Theorien berücksichtigt werden. Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit der Erklärung und Untersuchung dieser Theorien, im Speziellen mit der wissenschaftlichen Theorie der "Community of Practice". Ein weiterer Aspekt ist die Förderung durch Unterstützung der Community außerhalb des Spiels. Die Förderung durch Foren und Blogs, aber auch die Beteiligung der Community an der Neu- beziehungsweise Weiterentwicklung eines Spiels ist für die Förderung wichtig. Hier sollen die unterschiedlichen Möglichkeiten erkundet und auf deren Tauglichkeit in Sachen Community-Bildung aber auch -Bindung hin untersucht werden.<br />Die Theorien und Erkenntnisse sollen anhand mehrere aktueller Spiele und Online-Welten untersucht werden: "World of Warcraft", "Trackmania United Forever", "Counterstrike", "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars", "Second Life", "Papermint".<br />Ein weiteres Kapitel ist die Untersuchung einiger beispielhafter Technologien, welche die Entwicklung der Game-Communities stark beeinflussen können.<br />Der letzte Punkt soll eine Untersuchung möglicher Zukunftsmärkte wie Social Gaming, Casual Gaming und Web 3.0 sein.<br />
