This paper presents scientific evidence on the potential Simulation of Sound may have in practical applications.
The topic of this work is "IT- gestützte Simulation von Schall", can be translated as "IT- Supported Simulation of Sound". For this purpose, it was necessary to start by defining the term "sound". Chapter 2, entitled "Was ist Schall, was ist Lärm?" makes an attempt to do so, and also explains the difference between "Sound" and "Noise" and presents their sources.
Chapter 3 outlines the assumptions underlying the simulation software SoundPLAN by "Braunstein + Berndt GmbH", including a short description of its algorithms and implementation of the properties of sound.
Chapter 4 deals with the evaluation of the SoundPLAN sottware. Three sound intensity levels - one measured, one calculated and one simulated - are determined and compared with each other.
Chapter 5 analyzes relevant documents to evaluate the possibilities of effectively using simulation programs by listing relevant laws and standards and extracting relevant data.
Chapter 6 represents the core of this paper, as it transfers the theoretically discussed basics to a chosen practical example. Based on sound measurements and traffic censuses a sound analysis is carried out, focused on the included simulation, to determine the quality of the preliminary architectural draft and the impact baffle boards could have.
Therefore, not only procedural steps in compliance with standards, but also the assumptions underlying the simulation are discussed.
Since it would have gone beyond the scope of this work to simulate and analyze all types of building arrangements, baffle boards and their combinations, I tried to show the potential applications by using IT- based Simulations by means of a practical example and at the same time preserving a certain level of abstraction
