Correction to "Phase Diagram of a Stratum Corneum Lipid Mixture"

Abstract

In the original paper, the caption of Table 1 was misprinted during the galley proof stage. The correct table caption must read as given below. In addition, the ceramide interdigitation values describing the overlap in the two monolayers were incorrectly reported in Figure 6 of the original paper as well as in Tables S4 and Figure S18 of the Supporting Information. The correct values are reported in Figure 1 and the comparison between the two MARTINI models (200710 and 201511 models) in Figure 2, while individual values are listed in Table 2. We now observe that at 340 K the interdigitation in the liquid-disordered phase shows a maximum at ∼75 mol % ceramide (CERA) and 25 mol % lignoceric acid (LCA), while the pure ceramide system has a lower interdigitation because it is in the gel phase. At 300 K, addition of cholesterol (CHOL) increases interdigitation, which is in line with the literature, an earlier study of a similar system12 and several studies that were published after our original publication.13-15 Values show little dependence on the employed cholesterol force field as shown in Figure 2. Lastly, the column labeling of the area per lipid values of Table S4b reported in the Supporting Information of our original paper was shifted, but the reported values were correct.
