dc.description.abstract
With the aim of finding new nitrogen-containing ligands capable of sensitizing the luminescence of lanthanide ion, we synthesized and characterized a series of Tb(III), Eu(III), Gd(III), Sm(III) and Dy(III) complexes with triazole-based ligands. The pyridyltriazole ligands sensitizes very efficiently both the visible emission of the lanthanides, with unusually high luminescence quantum yields in solid state (up to 97 % for Tb, 82 % for Eu, and 23% for Dy). The results show that the pyridyltriazole ligand provides a very attractive alternative to the classic diketonates and heterocyclic ligands.
