There exist a number of classical analytical solutions for the calculation of the residual stresses produced by autofrettage.Historical solutions for thick-walled tubes are based on assumptions, which are approximate in comparison with reality andlimited in the range of applicability. New results for realistic boundary conditions reveal some unexpected phenomena.
