dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
In this work the historical Chinese temple construction is analyzed in its constructive and creative form. In dealing with materials used at that time and the applied processing methods, as well as the inclusion of the surrounding landscape, an architectural transformation of a temple building should take place, taking into account the most important Chinese planning principles. The historical development of temple forms and their architectural formulation provide the formal basis for the design of a Buddhist temple in Purkersdorf in the West of Vienna. The gained aspects are incorporated into the design principles, but are reinterpreted in compliance with the prevailing legal conditions in Austria and transported into the architectural context of Central Europe. The aim of the work is the transformation of the gained evaluation into contemporary wooden architecture and not a copy of a Chinese temple complex.
