Australische Wohnbauarchitektur und der Einfluss auf den sozialen Lebensraum : Ein neuer Wohnbau für Perth

Abstract

The subject of this diploma thesis is the residential architecture in Perth, Australia and the examination of the current urban sprawl and quality of the residential buildings. In the first part of the thesis, the cultural background and the parameters typical of the location are analyzed in order to create a basis for the design. The past, present and future of the city are illuminated to gain an understanding of the general conditions. The theme of the single family home plays a major role in the Australian culture and influences the increasing infrastructural and associated ecological conditions. However, part of the research is also the analysis of two existing projects that show an insight into future building in Australia. The design should be a fusion of culturally rooted spatial sequences, typical building materials and European planning standards, taking into account the relationship between architecture and society. Therefore, the main focus of the design is on the social living space, communal mixing and a denser building structure and yet the integration into existing urban and social structures. In addition, the property is located in the southern district Fremantle, which historically played an important role in the development of Perth and thus will be architecturally reflected in the design. The project should be an attempt to break out of the classic concepts and offer users greater self-determination in the built environment.

Gegenstand dieser Diplomarbeit ist die Wohnbauarchitektur in Perth, Australien und die Auseinandersetzung mit der aktuellen Zersiedelung und Qualität der Wohnbauten. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit werden der kulturelle Hintergrund und die vor Ort typischen Parameter analysiert um eine Basis für den Entwurf zu schaffen. Dabei wird die Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft der Stadt beleuchtet um ein Verständnis für die Rahmenbedingungen zu gewinnen. Das Thema des Einfamilienhauses spielt eine große Rolle in der australischen Kultur und beeinflusst zunehmend die infrastrukturellen und damit einhergehenden ökologischen Gegebenheiten. Ein weiterer Teil der Recherche ist jedoch auch die Analyse zweier existierender Projekte, die Einblick in das zukünftige Bauen in Australien geben. Der Entwurf soll eine Fusion von kulturell verwurzelten Raumabfolgen, ortstypischen Baumaterialien und europäischen Planungsstandards, mit Berücksichtigung auf die Beziehung zwischen Architektur und Gesellschaft sein. Daher liegt das Hauptaugenmerk des Entwurfes auf dem sozialen Lebensraum, gemeinschaftlicher Vermischung und einer dichteren Bebauungsstruktur und dennoch der Einbindung in vorhandene städtebauliche und gesellschaftliche Strukturen. Zudem liegt das Grundstück im südlichen Stadtteil Fremantle, das historisch eine wichtige Rolle für die Entwicklung von Perth spielte und deshalb architektonisch reflektiert wird. Das Projekt soll ein Versuch sein aus den klassischen Konzepten auszubrechen und den NutzerInnen eine größere Selbstbestimmung in der gebauten Umwelt anzubieten.
