In this talk I will introduce our experimental platform Atomchip, where we prepare one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensates of Rb87 in highly controlled double-well potentials. Recently, we developed new tools for shaping the longitudinal potential using an incoherent light source shaped with a DMD in combination with physics-inspired learning models.
By splitting a single condensate we create spin-squeezed states and show that for a slow but non-adiabatic splitting the relative atom number squeezing shows oscillations in accordance with the tunnel coupling of the double well. We usually probe the spin squeezing by measuring either phase or number imbalance of the atomic double well. New measurement schemes based on generalized measurements now allow us to infer both observables in the same realization. I will give an outlook on how we want to use the presented methods to measure multi-time correlation functions and build continuously monitored quantum systems.
