dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
In recent years, the term Building Information Modeling (BIM) has become increasingly popular in the international construction industry. The illustration of the construction project in form of a multi-dimensional digital twin model is supposed to be the next step in the industry’s digitalization process. Through collection of all project data in an extensive model and direct collaboration of all project participants, the flow of projects is made more efficient. However, for many Austrian companies and industry-related individuals, the required knowledge for actual, practical application of this new technology is missing. For example, the utilization of the Standardized Performance Specifications (StLB), published by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Economic Affairs, in the procurement process results in use of the proven form of creation of tenders. In order to encourage the practical implementation and use of BIM by clients, the templates of the government shall be checked for compatibility with BIM. The applicability of the Standardized Performance Specifications with BIM is examined by asking three research questions. The necessary adaptions are developed from the analysis of the results and are described in their type and the form of publication. A proposed solution using a standardized item catalog is analyzed throughout the process. The link with the existing system of the Austrian Standards Institute (ASI)-property-server serves as the basis for future research and standardization developments.
