We present examples of how terahertz (THz) electromagnetic tran-sients can be used to control spin precession in antiferromagnets (through the THz Zeeman torque) and to probe spin transport in magnetic heterostructures (through the THz inverse spin Hall effect), on femtosecond time scales.
