dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
This thesis describes the development of a four-pole Planetary Motor, a novel machine structure based on the first published work by Prof.~Manfred Schrödl in 2017. The underlying work stretches from the first design sketches on paper, over the theoretical basics of the machine to a fully functional prototype of the Planetary Motor. Chapter 1 gives an introduction about the origins and the motivation behind this machine concept. In Chapter 2 the mathematical theory of this electric machine is derived and a new concept of mechanical field weakening is introduced. The theoretical basis is followed by chapter 3, which guides the reader step by step through the analytical and simulation based design of the Planetary Motor. The construction of the motor is documented in the appendix, therefore chapter 4 only provides an overview of the finished prototype, the measurement setup and the control structure. Chapter 5 summarizes all measurements and connects these results to the previously simulated design. Finally, a conclusion and an outlook is given in Chapter 6.
