Die vorliegende Arbeit liefert einen Beitrag zur Validierung von Geschäftsmodellen unter Zuhilfenahme mathematisch-statistischer Methoden. Ausgehend vom Konzept der wertorientierten Unternehmensführung, welches die Steigerung des Unternehmenswertes in den Mittelpunkt stellt, wird ein theoretischer Rahmen für die Arbeit geschaffen. Dies umfasst einen Überblick zum Thema "Wertorientierung", einen Fokus bei der Thematik Kostenrechnung und Regressionsrechnung, und eine Klärung des Begriffs "Geschäftsmodell". Diese Elemente werden anschließend zu einer einheitlichen Methode verdichtet, welche sich dazu eignet, Geschäftsmodelle bzw. Kennzahlen eines Steuerungssystems, wie der Balanced Scorecard zu überprüfen. Die abstrakte Vorgehensweise wird anschließend in einer Fallstudie bei der voestalpine Metal Engineering Division praktisch angewendet. Ähnlich der Anwendung eines deduktiven Logikbaums wird die Spitzenkennzahl so weit zerlegt, bis das Objekt der Untersuchung, die Fertigungsgemeinkosten "freigelegt" werden, und die Wirkungsweise von Kennzahlen auf diese untersucht werden kann. In der Arbeit konnten auf deduktiver Basis jene Kostentreiber identifiziert werden, die Einfluss auf die Fertigungsgemeinkosten nehmen. Dies ermöglicht eine verursachungsgerechtere Kalkulation des Produktpreises bzw. eine höhere Transparenz bei der Weiterverrechnung innerhalb der Division.
