Digitale Prozessunterstützung im Asphaltstraßenbau

Abstract

Der Vorgang des Asphaltierens von Straßen stellt einen seit Jahrzehnten unveränderten Grundprozess dar. Um qualitativ hochwertige Asphaltstraßen unter der Einhaltung wirtschaftlicher Rahmenbedingungen herzustellen, müssen die Mischgutproduktion, der Mischguttransport und der Mischguteinbau reibungslos ineinandergreifen. Die Komplexität des Herstellens von Asphaltstraßen liegt demnach in der örtlichen und zeitlichen Koordination der Beteiligten. Bisherige Versuche die Prozesse im Asphaltstraßenbau zu optimieren, scheiterten an den Grenzen analoger Prozesse. Durch den Einsatz digitaler Technologien soll die Steuerung der gesamten Prozesskette des Asphaltstraßenbaus in Echtzeit ermöglicht werden. Ausführende Bauunternehmen erhoffen sich durch den Einsatz von Prozessoptimierungssoftware sowohl wirtschaftliche Vorteile, als auch den hohen Anforderungen der Auftraggeber im Hinblick auf eine lückenlose Dokumentation gerecht zu werden. Die Hersteller von Prozessoptimierungssoftware versprechen ihren Anwendern ebendiesen Anforderungen gerecht zu werden. Ob sie dieses Versprechen tatsächlich erfüllen können, ist aufgrund der Neuartigkeit der Technologie noch nicht ausreichend nachgewiesen. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es darzustellen, welche Veränderungen der Einsatz durchgängiger digitaler Softwarelösungen im Asphaltstraßenbau nach sich zieht. Dazu wird aufbauend auf einer durchgeführten Literaturrecherche eine umfassende Analyse des Ist-Prozesses vorgenommen. Anhand von Pilotprojekten werden zwei Softwarelösungen für die Prozessoptimierung im Asphaltstraßenbau getestet und ein Digitaler-Prozess entworfen. Geführte Interviews mit Prozessbeteiligten validieren die digitale Prozesskette und geben Aufschluss über die Auswirkungen der eingesetzten Technologie auf das Arbeitsumfeld. Eine Wirtschaftlichkeitsanalyse beleuchtet den ökonomischen Aspekt des Einsatzes von Prozessoptimierungssoftware für den Asphaltstraßenbau. Die Prozessanalyse zeigt, dass durch den digitalen Prozess der Informationsfluss konstant hoch ist und durch die Vermeidung von Medienbrüchen der Informationsgehalt über die Fortdauer eines Projektes gesteigert werden kann. Das hat einerseits positive Auswirkungen auf das Projekt – die Prozessbeteiligten bestätigen vorteilhafte Effekte auf ihr Arbeitsumfeld. Andererseits kann das bauausführende Unternehmen dadurch seine Marktposition stärken und wirtschaftlich agieren. Der Verfasser zeigt, dass der Einsatz von Prozessoptimierungssoftware im Asphaltstraßenbau umfangreiches Potential aufweist.

Road building techniques have not really changed over the past decades, with the fundamental methods remaining the same. In order to achieve a high quality of the roads and an economic solution it is necessary that the production, transport and placing of the used materials are carefully planned. The local and temporal coordination strategies of the involved parties represent the complexity of road construction techniques. Previous attempts of optimizing road construction processes failed, as they were limited by analogue processes. In using digital technologies, real time control of the entire process chain of asphalt road construction is possible. In working with digital tools, construction companies expect economic benefits as well as meeting the high demands for complete documentation. Software producers promise to release the potential of digitalization. Due to the recency of this technology, it has not been sufficiently proven whether they can actually fulfill these promises. The aim of this thesis is to describe the changes in asphalt road construction caused by the implementation of digital software solutions. Based on a literature review, an extensive analysis of the present process is carried out. Two software solutions for optimizing asphalt road construction processes are tested. Later on a digital process is designed. For validating the designed digital process interviews with the involved parties were conducted. Moreover they provide first-hand information of the used technology’s effect. A profitability analysis states the economic benefit of using process optimization software in asphalt road construction. The process analysis shows that using a digital process leads to a constantly high information flow. On top of it, the information content can be increased over the continuity of a project as media discontinuities can be avoided. On the one hand, this has a positive effect on the project, with participants confirming positive impact on their working environment. On the other hand, the construction company can strengthen its market position and operate on a higher economic level. The author of this thesis shows that the use of process optimization software in asphalt road construction has high potential.
