dc.description.abstract
This master thesis deals with the actual topics of the energy supply, reasons for the need of pump storage power plants, explains the main parts and further characteristics which will be necessary for this thesis. Because of significant and rapid fluctuation of energy quantity generated by wind and photovoltaic plant, being caused by the non-controllability and difficult foreseeability of them it is desirable that pump storage power plants are able to follow the changed grid conditions as fast as possible. Rapid changes of the operating point lead to water hammers, low efficiencies during the transient range and generally low efficiencies in the part load range by using a constant speed. This master thesis deals with the mentioned topics and delivers approaches to handle them. The base was a dataset of a power plant which had to be prepared and which was used after the necessary simplifications as model for the program SIMSEN (SIMSEN is the program the simulations were ran with). Due to the confidentiality this dataset will not be presented in this thesis and further all results are illustrated related to their values at the best efficiency point (BEP).
Main focus was primarily on finding of solutions while the constructive and electrical realizability are just outlined due to the lack of availability of data required for that considerations.
