dc.description.abstract
This thesis is the first one of two parts in laying down a fundamental concept about how to understand the implications of the cutting process on the hysteresis curve of nonoriented electrical steel sheets. This work deals with the connections between mechanical and magnetic simulation. The Jiles Atherton model is used to describe the basic hysteresis loop of a well annealed sample. Coefficients are proposed that describe the change of the parameters of the Jiles Atherton model as a function of stress and strain. A fitting procedure is then introduced that takes into account the experimental results of an initial hysteresis loop and a target hysteresis loop and finds optimal coefficients. The procedure is then evaluated on two different sets of test data, one being directly measured and one being the same but slightly modified in order to be more in line with the problem under consideration.
