In this thesis, LDPE films containing additional substances were tested for their potential use as active packaging materials for food (especially raw meat). The films were prepared by extrusion of masterbatches containing the substances wanted together with an LDPE masterbatch in the lab and subsequent compression moulding. The resulting films were tested in several ways: Their composition after the extrusion and compression moulding was determined with TGA and FTIR.<br />The migration of the active substances out of the material was tested by putting the films into water for several days at different temperatures and photometric measurements of the liquid. Additionally, experiments were made to measure the emmitting of CO2 of the films.
