The aim of this Diploma Thesis is to build a simulation model for the longitudinal dynamics of aircrafts in Matlab/Simulink. After an extensive literature research it was started to build up a physical model for the dynamics of aircrafts. This model contains the equation of motions in the longitudinal direction on the one hand and in the horizontal direction on the other hand. The connection between these both equations is the angle of attack. One of the most essential properties of the model is, that both lift and drag coefficient were not assumed as a constant, but they were calculated by analytic functions with the angle of attack as a variable.
The second important point within the diploma thesis was the development of a model for the jet propulsion system, in view of the energy consumption model. At jet propulsion systems for aircrafts, the thrust describes an essential criterion. To investigate certain ambient conditions, the model provides the opportunity to dictate air pressure, air temperature and wind speed. Before the implementation in Matlab/Simulink the physical model was adapted so far that the number of algebraic loops could be reduced. This has advantages regarding the solution of the equations of motion. The basic structure of the simulation model for the dynamics is equivalent to a control loop. The set values result from the trajectory for a specific flight. A controller guarantees, through necessary changes, that the difference between the desired and the actual state of flight will be as little as possible. On the basis of occurring magnitudes during the flight the energy consumption submodel, which is integrated in the model of the jet propulsion system, calculates the fuel and energy consumption as well as CO2-emissions.
