dc.description.abstract
dc.description.abstract
This masters thesis discusses a new approach to the measurement of the leak-tightness of modern high quality showcases using tracer gas methods. The classical approach for the leak-tightness measurement requires that the exchange law governing the time-dependent mole-fraction of the tracer gas is linear. Experimental results indicate that this is not always the case. So far only linear exchange models were proposed and discussed in the literature to justify the evaluation process. We develop an exchange model including diffusion and buoyancy effects and validate the models using experimental results from a special enclosure. The nonlinearity of the exchange law is confirmed by the experimental results and is included in the new exchange model. Parameters are found that describe the exchange of gaseous components in the air and a method how these parameters can be identified is suggested.
