dc.description.abstract
dc.description.abstract
Since the industrial revolution technology and organisations have changed rapidly and enormously. Today information technology not only has tremendous impact on operating departments of the firm but also influences strategic decision making as it supports all business processes in all areas. Proven in strategic management the complete business processes and the way they interact with each other give opportunities for establishing competitive advantages.
In the process of standardisation, fixed routines and best practices are implemented in the wrapped up business process software. Trough competitive analysis theories, especially the resource-based view, this work reviews how the impact of standardisation in business process software and the connected appliance of the same practices as competitors, constrain companies in their way of creating competitive advantages. With the help of analysing integrated information systems from well described case studies it is shown if the assumptions made in studying the relevant literature are also of value in practice.
