As a former Spanish colony, the Philippines is a country strongly influenced by Catholicism, even to this day. In this nearly 500-year long history of Catholicism in the Philippines, design of sacred spaces made a great development. Next to presenting the development of sacred space in this country, this master thesis deals with the question on how to design churches in the Philippines today, by specifically designing a chapel for the village of Talahib Payapa in Batangas, Luzon.

Als ehemalige spanische Kolonie sind die Philippinen ein, bis heute, stark katholisch geprägtes Land. In der fast 500 jahrelangen Geschichte des Katholizismus auf den Philippinen hat der Sakralbau eine enorme Entwicklung hinter sich. Neben diesen historischen Umriss der Sakralbaugeschichte in diesem Land,will diese Masterarbeit die Frage behandeln, wie nun ein kontemporärer Sakralbau auf den Philippinen aussehen soll und behandelt hierzu den Entwurf einer Kapelle im Dorf Talahib Payapa in Batangas, auf der Inselgruppe Luzon.
