dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
With the relocation of the WU to the Prater 2013, there was not only an empty building with a usable area of approx. 70,000 m left, but also the surrounding area was taken away from the city life. The temporary uses of individual institutes do not represent a permanent state. For example, the Academy of Fine Arts has a different spatial requirement than it is currently the case. Generous workshops and studios, as well as places for free adaptation are needed. At the same time, there is an increasing demand for new ways of working and living. Rising costs for residential and office space require new approaches and ideas. The project "common campus" is intended to investigate the scenario of how the location of the former economic university can be sustainably reused and transformed. Working, studying and living should be linked and intertwined in such a way that new forms of living, studying and working together are created and promoted. The basis for this should always be the communal space. This is understood as a place that can always be in development and allow different types of use. The concept of the common describes a state, the production and reproduction of the community. For example, the "common campus" does not present itself to outsiders as a self-contained, self-sufficient collective, but opens up to the entire city and serves as a place of exchange.
