The starting point for choosing my thesis was the idea of designing a project that focuses on people's well-being. To support the revitalization of the existing Siberian health resort, new spaces were designed, which serve to relax body and mind. The cultural identity of the Buryat people should also be supported by interpreting the traditional architecture in its interaction with nature. The textual part gives an overview of the Buryatia region in Russia and deals with the history, natural treasures, culture, religion, development goals and also the thermal culture of Russia. This information is an important introduction towards the understanding of architectural design of the project. The project proposes an expansion concept for the Goryachinsk medical resort in the Republic of Buryatia through a new thermal bath. The resort's potential is great - the mild climate, the hot natural springs, the existing infrastructure and the breathtaking nature of Lake Baikal building an excellent basis for wellness tourism in the region. The Thermal Temple is nestled in the coniferous forest on the grounds of the medical resort and not only supports the existing operation of the facility as an additional leisure activity but also addresses day tourists from the surrounding cities. This hypothetical design supports the governmental tourism agenda “Baikal-Harbour" that should be realised in the near future.
