Roboternetz - Landschaft - Raum

Abstract

Die Nutzung statischer und parametrischer Werkzeuge im architektonischen Entwurfsprozess gibt uns die Möglichkeit alternative Methoden der Raumgestaltung und -produktion zu generieren, welche nach einer Neuorganisation und Neuinterpretation räumlicher Zusammenhänge verlangen. Robotik erlaubt uns darüber hinaus, diese Entwurfs- und Planungs- und Produktionsprozesse auch in Echtzeit in unserer gebauten Umwelt anzuwenden. Idee ist, dieses Konzept anhand von begrünten beweglichen Strukturen aufzuzeigen. Die komplexen Zusammenhänge werden in einer Fallstudie und mit gebauten Prototypen untersucht. Die Bühne dafür bildet der urbane Straßenraum und eine darin implementierte Struktur. Der Forschungsschwerpunkt meiner Diplomarbeit ist daher die Untersuchung von wandelbaren Tragwerken und wie sich durch mechanische Steuerung deren Funktionsweise und Form verändern lässt. Im konkreten untersuche ich dabei die Beziehung zwischen Maschinen und Pflanzen und deren interaktive Einflussnahme durch einen Nutzer. In der Architektur werden bewegliche Bauteile meist eingesetzt, um auf sich ständig ändernde funktionale Anforderungen zu reagieren. Die maschinengesteuerten Pflanzentöpfe sind durch einen speziellen motorischen Knoten miteinander verbunden und haben dadurch die Möglichkeit die Entfernung zueinander mechanisch zu steuern. Das Hauptprinzip des Systems sieht vor, dass sich der robotische Garten durch den Einfluss bestimmter Attraktorenpunkte an die Bedürfnisse der Benutzer anpassen lässt und sich dadurch seine morphologische Gestalt im ständigen Wandel befindet. Als statisches System dient es der Lastabtragung einer Konstruktion, als bewegliches System ermöglicht es eine reversible Veränderung der Form. Nach Abschluss der Formgebung erfolgt durch die Versteifung der beweglichen Elemente die Fixierung des Systems und somit der Übergang vom Mechanismus zum Tragwerk. Die typische Formensprache von Tragwerken wird besonders dann sichtbar, wenn große Spannweiten überbrückt oder große Höhen erreicht werden müssen.

The use of static and parametric tools in the architectural design process allows for alternative methods generation of room design and production that require a reorganization and reinterpretation of spatial relationships. Robotics allows us to apply these design, planning and production processes in real time in our built environment. The idea is to demonstrate this concept using green, moving structures. The complex relationships are examined in a case study with built prototypes. The stage for this is formed by the urban street space and a structure implemented in it. The research focus of my diploma thesis is therefore the investigation of convertible structures and how their functionality and shape can be changed through mechanical control. Specifically, I am investigating the relationship between machines and plants and their interactive influence by a user. Movable components are mostly used in architecture in order to react to constantly changing functional requirements. The machine-controlled plant pots are connected to one another by a special motorized node and thus have the option of mechanically controlling the distance between them. The main principle of the system suggests that the robotic garden can be adapted to the needs of the user through the influence of certain attractor points and that its morphological shape is constantly changing. As a static system it serves to transfer the load of a construction, as a movable system it enables a reversible change in shape. After the shaping is completed, the stiffening of the movable elements fixes the system and thus the transition from the mechanism to the supporting structure.
