dc.description.abstract

Travel options will continue to be reduced in the post-corona world, making regional tourism more attractive. With that in mind, people are more likely to opt for shorter excursions in nature. Instead of going to far-off countries, people will increasingly choose domestic destinations, such as a green oasis in the immediate vicinity of the city. The concept envisages a visitor and research center in one of the oldest parks in Europe, the Lainzer Tiergarten. Unusual history and great importance of this place in the history of Vienna, as well as a special natural area, require an equally special treatment of the landscape and the surrounding area. The idea would be to see the built structure primarily as a space for aesthetic experience and relaxation, while the secondary purpose would add to the macroeconomic, cultural and visual aspect of the park. The historical development of protected green spaces has led to changes in the design, size and purpose of the function. When developing the project, an attempt was made to react to the points mentioned and to combine them into a facility whose presence confirms the sustainability and further development of the area.
