In future wireless systems, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) are expected to play a major role by adapting wireless channels to cover previously shadowed areas. A multitude of RISs concepts and first prototypes are already under investigation and proper testing is also coming into focus. In this paper we present an automated measurement environment for RIS enhanced wireless channels and discuss the important design parameters of such a measurement system. Our setup follows a modular approach and supports automatic movement of the antennas and of the RIS prototype. Such a setup enables repeatable and automatic measurements at different distances, angles and RIS states. Furthermore, we present first initial measurements at sub-6 GHz.
