Augmented reality (AR) technologies have become increasingly widespread in both, indoor and outdoor environments. The systems proposed to date, however, are solely aware of their immediate surroundings. In this talk, I will focus on a solution to overcome this shortcoming by introducing Geographic-Aware AR based on the Microsoft HoloLens platform. Based on an overview of the system architecture and calibration, I will elaborate on a series of (user) studies we have conducted for a variety of use case scenarios such as human-environment interaction, wayfinding assistance, and beyond.
