dc.description.abstract
This study investigates the influence of physical vapor-deposited ceramic coating materials (e.g., transition metal nitrides) on the fatigue life of Ti-6Al-4V. For this purpose, different coating variations were deposited on custom-made Ti-6Al-4V fatigue specimens, and subsequently, single cantilever fatigue tested using a dynamic mechanical analyzer. The gained S-N curves are discussed with respect to structure-mechanical parameters originating from the deposition process.
