dc.description.abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the testing results of the brickwork piers resistance. The aim of the tests was to reveal the qualitative picture of deformations and the character of the depletion of bearing capacity of brick piers and to obtain quantitative data on their stress and strain state under static force action at all stages of loading. It was also important to reveal deformation structure and phases as well as the destruction of a brickwork under increased load and to build “load – deformation” relations, corresponding to the process of deformation and destruction of a brickwork. It has been proved that the mechanism of brick piers destruction under central and non-central load occurs under the scheme of cleavage, shearing, breaking and the destruction of brick-and-mortar material with a clear definition of deformation stages and a brickwork destruction are observed. On the results of the analysis the influence of an acting tensions value on cracking in piers and on the brickwork as a whole and the change of Poisson ratio of a brickwork under the load change have been determined.
