Reduced R-matrix analysis of light nuclear systems: New parametrisation

Abstract

Die Beschreibung der Reaktionsdaten im Resonanzbereich mittels phenomenologischer R-Matrix Analyse ist weit etabliert. Diese Analysetechnik verwendet Vereinfachungen der R-Matrix Formel, welche durch theoretische Überlegung und der Annahme von hermitischen Interaktionen getroffen wurden. Der zweite Punkt setzt voraus, dass alle vorhanden Kanäle eines Reaktionssystems in die Analyse einfließen. Für phenomenologische Analyse ist es kaum möglich diese Bedingung zu erfüllen, weil: a) für bestimmte Kanäle keine experimentellen Daten zur Verfügung stehen, b) manche Kanäle nicht durch Experimente betrachtet werden können, c) es Kanäle gibt, die nicht durch R-Matrix Theorie beschrieben werden können (Capture-Kanäle, Aufbruchskanäle). Aus diesen Gründen muss die Analyse in vielen Fällen für ein unvollständiges System durchgeführt werden. Dieses Problem wurde bereits von Lane und Thomas in [1] behandelt und das Konzept der reduzierten R-Matrix wurde vorgestellt. Der herausstechendste Punkte dieses Konzeptes ist die Verwendung des Imaginärteils der R-Matrix um Kanäle global einfließen zu lassen die nicht explizit in der Analyse behandelt werden. Verschiedene Gruppen verwenden das Konzept der reduzierten R-Matrix, um in der phenomenologischen Analyse von Reaktionsdaten vor allem Capture-Kanäle zu berücksichtigen. Trotzdem gibt es noch Klärungspunkte in der Parametrisierung für die phenomenologische Analyse, wie zum Beispiel die korrekte Einbindung des Schwellenwerts. In dieser Arbeit wurde eine Parametrisierung der reduzierten R-Matrix verwendet, welche den Schwellenwert von weggelassenen Kanälen korrekt einfließen lässt. Basierend auf der exakten ein-Pol Formel wurde eine Parametrisierung vorgeschalgen, die eine angemessene Näherung für ein allgemeineres System mit gut trennbaren Resonanzen darstellt. Es werden die Schritte zu dieser Parametrisierung erläutert und deren Eigenschaften besprochen. Weiters wird das Konzept auf ein leichtes nukleares Reaktionssystem und dessen experimentelle Daten angewandt, auf das System n-$^9$Be.[1] A. M. Lane and R. G. Thomas. At present the description of resonant reaction data via a phenomenological R-matrix analysis is well established. This analysis technique makes use of a simplification of the R-matrix formula obtained in theoretical considerations assuming hermitean interactions. The latter implies that all possible channels in a reaction system are accounted for in the analysis. In general this condition is hardly satisfied in phenomenological analyses of experimental reaction data. There are several reasons for this: a) experimental data for certain channels are not available, b) certain channels are not accessible for experiments and c) there are channels which cannot be described by R-matrix theory (capture channels, breakup channels).Therefore frequently the analyses have to be performed on an incomplete system. A problem which was already considered by [1] who introduced the concept of the so-called Reduced R-Matrix. The most striking feature is the introduction of imaginary parts in the R-matrix which globally account for channels not explicitly included in analyses. The concept of the reduced R-matrix has been applied by several groups in phenomenological analyses of reaction data especially to account for capture channels. Nevertheless there are several open questions concerning its parametrisation in phenomenological analyses, e.g. the proper inclusion of thresholds. In this contribution we develop a parametrisation of the reduced R-matrix which properly accounts for thresholds of eliminated channels. Based on an exact expression for single poles we propose a parametrisation which provides a reasonable approximation to more general systems with well separated resonances. The steps leading to the parametrisation of the reduced R-matrix and its features are discussed. Furthermore applications to experimental data sets of light nuclear reaction systems especially for neutron-induced reaction of $^9$Be will be presented.[1] A. M. Lane and R. G. Thomas.
