Was bedeutet es Gesund zu sein? Diese simple Frage lässt sich nicht mit einer einfachen Antwort klären. Denn unser Verständnis von Gesundheit - was dazu gehört, gesund zu sein - und welche Einflussfaktoren hierfür entscheidend sind, haben sich im Laufe der Zeit kontinuierlich verändert und ändern sich auch heute noch. So ist es nur logisch, dass auch die Architektur und Stadtplanung hinsichtlich des Gesundheitswesens einen stetigen Wandel durchläuft. Durch dieses ständige Streben nach vermeintlicher Verbesserung haben wir als Gesellschaft ein unbestreitbar hohes Niveau an gesundheitlicher Versorgung erreicht.Und doch ist es uns bis heute nicht gelungen, diese auch allen Gesellschaftsschichten gleichermaßen zur Verfügung zu stellen. Der Zugang zu unserem Gesundheitssystem wird noch immer stark von sozialen Determinanten wie dem Einkommen, beziehungsweise dem Einkommen der Eltern, dem sozialen Umfeld und der Wohnsituation beeinflusst.Aus diesem Grund muss eine gute Gesundheitsversorgung mehr als nur den medizinischen Aspekt der Gesundheit beachten. Es braucht eine vielseitige Versorgungslandschaft aus formellen und informellen Institutionen und Initiativen. Hierbei können Stadteilgesundheitszentren eine Schlüsselfunktion einnehmen; sie können sowohl als Verbindungsglied zwischen verschiedenen gesundheitsrelevanten Infrastrukturen fungieren, wie auch als eine niederschwellige erste Anlaufstelle für unterschiedlichste, nicht notwendigerweise rein medizinische Anliegen und Probleme agieren.In dieser Arbeit liegt der Fokus dementsprechend darauf, einen Ort der Gemeinschaft zu schaffen, der dabei helfen kann, den Zugang zu unserem Gesundheitssystem für vulnerable Gruppen zu erleichtern. Das Ziel hierbei ist es, sich in die gebaute Umwelt einzufügen und sich dem sozialen Kontext der Umgebung anzupassen.Durch neue Raum- und Nutzungskonzepte soll ein Umfeld entstehen, das zum Austausch und der Integration in eine Gemeinschaft anregt. Ziel ist es also, Orte der Begegnung zu schaffen, um den Austausch zwischen den Nutzer*innen des Objekts anzuregen und so die allgemeine Gesundheitskompetenz in der Umgebung zu stärken.
