We present to graduate and undergraduate students the recent developments in experiments with single ultracold atomsat the Atominstitut. We make an emphasis on the miniaturization of the experimental setup. Application of single-atom technologies include 1) quantum optics and networks, 2) quantum computing and simulations, 3) quantum metrology and sensing.
