UAV basierte Laserbathymetrie hat sich in den letzten Jahren als effiziente Messmethode für die 3D Erfassung der Flachwasserzone relativ klarer Gewässer in hoher räumlicher Auflösung etabliert. Die erzielbare Eindringtiefe ist mit mehr als der 2-fachen Secchi Tiefe dabei oft tendenziell größer als bei der klassischen, flugzeugbasierten Laserbathymetrie. Allerdings wurden mittlerweile wiederholt gegenüber unabhängigen Referenzmessungen systematische Tiefenabweichungen festgestellt, mit einer Tendenz zur Überschätzung der Wassertiefe. Es steht die Vermutung im Raum, dass die beobachteten Effekte mit der Gewässertrübung in Zusammenhang stehen, die dazu führen, dass für die Kompensation der Abweichungen im Zuge der Refraktionskorrektur unrealistisch große Brechungskoeffizienten > n=1.4 angesetzt werden müssen. Um den vermuteten Zusammenhang mit der Trübe empirisch nachzuweisen, wurde ein Experiment unter kontrollierten Messbedingungen im Wasserbaulabor der TU Wien durchgeführt.
