dc.description.abstract
Thin shell models replace electromagnetic shields with an interface in the finite element mesh, which leads to less degrees of freedom and better conditioned finite elements. However, they depend on approximations by analytical solutions or on expansions by suitable basis functions. This work presents an effective material approach which does not require any additional unknowns inside the shield, replacing the eddy current problem with an effective stationary field problem on the outside domain.
