dc.description.abstract
To simplify the design of electrical machines, often only one slice is considered instead of the entire machine. We propose a method, where the basic eddy current problem of a single iron sheet of laminated cores is investigated by a static magnetic field problem with an effective material in a 2D finite element model. The effective material is obtained by solving different suitable cell problems. Losses and reactive powers are assumed to be the same in cell problems. Voltage excitation is considered, i.e. the finite element model is coupled with an external circuit. The method with an effective material is very efficient and accurate as shown by numerical simulations.
