In the conventional geodetic VLBI analysis, sources are treated as if they were point-like. The observed radio emission, however, originates in the jets of active galactic nuclei, which are often resolved by the interferometer. Our aim is to mitigate the effect of source structure as early as possible in the processing chain, such that the data look like they had been obtained by the observations of point sources. We have developed a tool to remove the structure phases directly from the output of the correlator. In this talk I will describe our method and present results obtained from its application to observational data, with special emphasis on VGOS.
