According to the national energy and climate plan, the Power production from Solar Photovoltaic (PV) in Austria is expected to be 2TWh in 2030, 3TWh in 2040 and 4TWh in 2050. Hence, this target is likely to increase the solar PV installed capacity during the forecast timeline. Already, Installation of rooftop solar photovoltaic systems (RSPSs) in Austria is increasing continuously regarding geographical and meteorological conditions. This thesis presents an insight into the potential situation for Austria and a simulation study for the rooftop solar photovoltaic systems RSPS designing and calculation for the RIKA project in Micheldorf, Upper Austria. This simulation study demonstrates that 855,000-kWp grid-connected RSPS RIKA Project in Micheldorf, Upper Austria can produce remarkable power. The system is performed in detail with the PV*SOL software (PV*SOL Premium Edition). Detailed financial and performance analysis of the grid-connected RSPS with various parameters is also carried out in this study. According to the simulation results, the annual global irradiation is at 1203.7 KWh/m2 and average temperature of 12°. The performance ratio of the system is 87.37%, with the annual PV energy at 784495 KWh and specific annual yield at 1162.21KWh/KWp. The consumption covered by PV is 467544KWh with a solar fraction of 54.7% with avoided CO2 emissions of 419705 kg/year. This photovoltaic (PV) system installation for the RIKA project, demonstrated the considerable potential for solar energy and sunshine duration, is indispensable for clean energy requirements and was supported by the simulation results. This thesis can be considered an advanced feasibility study as the implementation of the project is currently ongoing.
