dc.description.abstract
Gropiusstadt in Berlin is a well-known example of large housing estates. Anonymity, social hotspot, drug neighborhood. These are typical associations that often predominate in the media. The reality oftenis different. Many residents like living here. Living in the green, far away from the noise of the big city. However, there are also many downsides. The lack of infrastructure, neighborhoods and jobs come up short. The aim of this work is to analyze Gropiusstadt in more detail. Which planning mistakes were made from the beginning? How has Gropiusstadt been dealt with until today? What improvements can be made in the future to give the settlement as much quality of life as possible? The prevailing mono-functionality ofthe settlement today no longer corresponds to what we understand by city. New cities are planned with many different uses to respond to different needs in a sustainable way. The city is built FOR and WITH people. How can more urbanity be brought to Gropiusstadt in retrospect?
