Gebäude für Bildung und Gemeinschaft in Floridsdorf

Abstract

Diese Diplomarbeit widmet sich der städtebaulichen und sozialen Aufwertung des Franz-Jonas-Platzes in Wien-Floridsdorf durch die Entwicklung eines multifunktionalen Bibliotheksgebäudes. Der Franz-Jonas-Platz, ein wichtiger Verkehrsknotenpunkt, leidet unter fehlender Aufenthaltsqualität, sozialen Problemlagen und einer überwiegenden Nutzung als Durchgangsraum. Die Arbeit untersucht, wie durch die architektonische Intervention einer Bibliothek der Platz als kulturelles und soziales Zentrum revitalisiert werden kann. Neben den klassischen Bibliotheksfunktionen sollen auch kreative und soziale Räume geschaffen werden, um den Franz-Jonas-Platz zu einem lebendigen Treffpunkt für die BewohnerInnen und BesucherInnen des Bezirks zu machen. Der Entwurf berücksichtigt die aktuellen Nutzungen des Bauplatzes, der gegenwärtig als Abstellfläche für u.a. Container genutzt wird, und integriert bestehende Initiativen wie den regelmäßigen Buchflohmarkt vor Ort. Die Analyse internationaler Bibliotheksprojekte und die Untersuchung der sozialen und städtebaulichen Herausforderungen am Franz-Jonas-Platz dienen als Grundlage für den architektonischen Entwurf. Ziel ist es, ein Gebäude zu schaffen, das nicht nur zur Verbesserung des städtischen Raums beiträgt, sondern auch als Ankerpunkt für soziale Interaktionen und kulturelle Teilhabe wirkt.

This thesis is dedicated to the urban and social upgrading of Franz-Jonas-Platz in Vienna-Floridsdorf through the development of a multifunctional library building. Franz-Jonas-Platz, an important important traffic junction, suffers from a lack of amenity value, social problems and predominant use as a transit area. The thesis examines how the square can be revitalized as a cultural and social center through the architectural intervention of a library. In addition to the classic library functions, creative and social spaces are also to be created in order to turn Franz-Jonas-Platz into a lively meeting place for the district's residents and visitors. The design takes into account the current uses of the site, which is currently used as a storage area for containers, among other things, and integrates existing initiatives such as the regular book flea market on site. The analysis of international library projects and the investigation of the social and urban planning challenges at Franz-Jonas-Platz serve as the basis for the architectural design. The aim is to create a building that not only contributes to the improvement of the urban space, but also acts as an anchor point for social interaction and cultural participation.
