Abstract

Analysis of studies on the condition of garages and parking decks. The state of maintenance of numerous garages and parking decks, mainly located in Vienna, has been examined in detail by the authors in recent years. Based on the investigation reports, a detailed data set with over 35,000 entries was compiled, which contains the decisive factors in a classified and standardized form. This included the measurement results at the investigation sites, such as the concrete cover, the carbonation depth, the chloride content, the corrosion condition, the damage pattern etc., as well as the various components, such as ceiling undersides, column bases, wall bases etc. and functional areas, such as the storeys, driving areas and parking spaces etc. In the first step, this data set was analyzed using the machine learning algorithms available today. The correlations found were then statistically evaluated, visualized in diagrams and evaluated. The results allow representative statements to be made for garages about the relationships between the investigated characteristics and the damage mechanisms. It was thus possible to check design rules and evaluate limit values, such as those relating to the chloride content that causes damage. Based on the results, the investigation effort can also be determined more precisely and the refurbishment measures can be better estimated in advance.
