The mapping of underwater terrain and the monitoring of coastal and inland waters have been transformed by airborne bathymetric Lidar. The precision of laser-based remote sensing, combined with the ability to penetrate water surfaces, is utilized by this technology to provide critical data for environmental management, infrastructure planning and disaster preparedness. The principles, applications and advancements in airborne bathymetric Lidar
are explored in this article, highlighting its potential to revolutionize the hydrographic surveying landscape.
