dc.description.abstract
The main challenge integrated steel industry face is the high environmental impact, particularly related to
their carbon footprint. Process simulation has emerged as an useful tool in optimizing iron and steel
production. Two distinct models of a sinter strand, differing in mathematical and physiochemical detail,
have been subjected to simulations for comparative analysis within the same flowsheeting environment.
The data requirements and validation, as well as applicability and use cases are discussed. The
simulation results underscore the depth of understanding and the possible positive changes achievable
gained by employing detailed models within the context of flowsheeting.
