Standard industrial induction motors often exhibit a spatial saliency caused by the relative motion between rotor and stator slots. In combination with the magnetic saturation saliency, an intermodulation saliency arises. This paper presents a novel flux angle estimation method based on the intermodulation saliency, which shows improved dynamic encoderless operation.
