Prüfung des Gebrauchsverhaltens von Asphaltmischgut und Asphaltmastix

Abstract

Eine dauerhafte und dadurch langanhaltende Straßeninfrastruktur bildet das Fundament und die Voraussetzung für hochentwickelte Gesellschaften, ist eine Basis für wirtschaftliches Wachstum und dient als Grundlage, um die Mobilitätsbedürfnisse der Menschen zu erfüllen. In Österreich existiert ein umfassendes System zur Qualitätssicherung und Qualitätskontrolle (QS/QK) im Asphaltstraßenbau, basierend auf Typ-, Kontroll- und Abnahmeprüfungen. Dieses System ist in zahlreichen Normen und Richtlinien geregelt, wobei sowohl rezeptbasierte (empirische) als auch gebrauchverhaltensorientierte (GVO, funktionale) Anforderungen an Mischgut und Schichten festgelegt werden können. Durch die steigende Komplexität von Ausgangsstoffen und Rezepturen, die beispielsweise durch höhere Anforderungen aufgrund von Verkehrs- und Klimabelastungen entsteht, geht der für rezeptorientierte Anforderungen notwendige Erfahrungshintergrund langsam verloren. Aus diesem Grund wird der funktionale Ansatz, bei dem Mischgut im Labor in ähnlicher Weise wie auf der Straße unter Klima- und Verkehrsbedingungen beansprucht wird, an Bedeutung gewinnen. Durch diese Simulation wird sichergestellt, dass das Mischgut auch unter Laborbedingungen realitätsorientiert geprüft wird. Obwohl das derzeitige Verfahren zur Simulation der Belastungssituation auf der Straße durch GVO-Prüfmethoden effektiv ist,benötigt es den Einsatz großer Materialmengen und einen erheblichen Zeitaufwand für die Prüfungen. Dies ist in den meisten Fällen von laufenden Bauprojekten nicht realisierbar, vor allem die erforderlichen, kostenintensiven und komplizierten Prüfgeräte, die in Österreich nur eingeschränkt verfügbar sind.Im Rahmen dieser Diplomarbeit wird als Ermüdungsprüfung auf Asphaltebene der Spaltzug-Schwellversuch (CIT-CY) durchgeführt, der auf den Grundsätzen der Europäischen Normen (ÖNORM EN 12697-24 und ÖNORM EN 12697-26) basiert. Auf Asphaltmastixebene existieren noch keine normativen Grundlagen zu Ermüdungsprüfungen. Daher wurde an der TU Wien-IVWS ein standardisierter Ermüdungsversuch im dynamischen Scherr-Rheometer (DSR) mit einem hyperbolischen Probekörper entwickelt. Die resultierenden Daten werden analysiert und miteinander verglichen. Es wird auch nach potenziellen Zusammenhängen zwischen beiden Ebenen gesucht.Die Ergebnisse verdeutlichen, dass die Polymermodifikation von Bitumen sowie die Änderung des Füller-Bitumen-Verhältnisses einen wesentlichen Einfluss auf das Ermüdungsverhalten der beiden Ebenen haben, im Gegensatz zu anderen Rezepturparametern. Darauf kann für zukünftige Arbeiten aufgebaut werden. Die Zusammenhänge zwischen dem Ermüdungsverhalten auf Asphalt- und Mastixebene können bei der Steifigkeit der beiden Ebenen zuverlässig sein.

A durable and thus long-lasting road infrastructure forms the foundation and prerequisite for highly developed societies, serves as a basis for economic growth, and provides the groundwork to meet the mobility needs of people. In Austria, there is a comprehensive system for quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) in asphalt road construction, based on type, control, and acceptance tests. This system is regulated by numerous standards and guidelines, whereby both recipe-based (empirical) and performance-based (GVO, functional) requirements for the mixture and layers can be established. Due to the increasing complexity of raw materials and mix designs, which arises, for example, from higher demands due to traffic and climate stresses, the necessary experience background for recipe-oriented requirements is slowly being lost. For this reason, the functional approach, in which the mixture is tested in the laboratory in a manner similar to that on the road under climate and traffic conditions, is being adopted. Through this simulation, it is ensured that the mixture is tested under laboratory conditions in a way that is realistic and reflective of field stresses. Although the current method for simulating the stress situation on the road using performance-based (GVO) testing methods is effective, it requires the use of large quantities of materials and a significant amount of time for the tests. This is not feasible in most cases of ongoing construction projects, especially the required, costly, and complicated testing equipment, which is only available to a limited extent in Austria.As part of this thesis, the Cyclic Indirect Tensile Test for Cylindric Specimens (CIT-CY) is conducted at the asphalt mixture level, which is based on the principles of the European Standards (ÖNORM EN 12697-24 and ÖNORM EN 12697-26). At the asphalt mastic level, there are still no normative foundations for fatigue tests. Therefore, a standardized fatigue test in the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) with a hyperbolic specimen was developed at TU Wien-IVWS. The resulting data will be analyzed and compared with each other. Potential correlations between both levels are also being investigated.The results illustrate that the polymer modification of bitumen as well as the change in the filler-bitumen ratio have a significant impact on the fatigue behavior of both levels, in contrast to other formulation parameters. This can be built upon for future work. The relationships between the fatigue behavior at the asphalt and mastic levels can be reliably given by the stiffness of both levels.
